The greater good.

Having studied art since I was very young I have seen how important learning and having oppertunities to learn art is. I was lucky to have family and teachers that encouraged me to draw, and paint and photograph and to experiment with my creative side.

It seems there are a lot of children who are not so lucky, art doesn't get the support in mainstream education it used to and many children are forced into home schooling for a variety of reasons. All this leads to a lack of art facilities and lessons for many younger people.

I wanted to try to do something to address this and so I have been looking at working with community groups to set up full-term structured art/media classes with other creatives to teach children outside of the mainstream education route. I have also been working on accessibility programs to help introduce photography and digital arts to those with no access to mainstream art and media education or facilities. I have also written several articles for online publishers and carried out talks with photography clubs across the UK with a mind to helping them encourage and support younger members.

I am hoping to be able to set up regular classes with different community groups and eventually studio space and editing facilities that can be used by younger members of the art/media community as well as these groups. I have started a Buymeacoffee account and use funds earned from this and my participation in the Amazon influencer program to pay for equipment, supplies and facilities to show groups how this can be done by themselves.
